Movie Rating Classification

General (G) Film Rating Icon

GENERAL (G)

The G rating is considered suitable for all audiences. This classification indicates that the content of the movie is free from any material that would likely offend or harm the sensibilities of viewers, including young children. A G-rated film does not contain content that would be considered inappropriate for children. Themes are typically light-hearted, and violence is minimal or depicted in a comedic or unrealistic manner. There are no scenes of substance use, and sexual content is absent.

18A Film Rating Icon

18A

An 18A rating suggests that the movie contains content that is not suitable for viewers under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by an adult. This classification is often given to films that may contain explicit sexual content, frequent or intense violence, prolonged scenes of torture or horror, or the depiction of illegal drug use. The content is considered adult and is much stronger in impact than what you would find in a 14A-rated film.

Parental Guidence (PG) Film Rating Icon

Parental Guidance (PG)

PG-rated movies are generally suitable for most audiences, including children, but parents may want to consider whether the content could be potentially upsetting for younger viewers. This classification suggests that there might be some low-level coarse language, mild violence, or themes that require a bit of parental guidance. However, these elements are not intense enough to require a stricter rating. A PG film might also have some moments that are emotionally more complex, so parents may need to provide context to younger children.

Restricted Film Rating Icon

Restricted (R)

The Restricted (R) classification indicates that the film contains content that is restricted to adults aged 18 and over. This rating is assigned to films with high-impact content that may include graphic and explicit violence, sexual content, extreme language, or intense depictions of drug abuse. Films with an R rating often explore mature themes and situations that are intended strictly for an adult audience, not deemed suitable for children or younger teenagers at all.

14A Film Rating Icon

14A

The 14A classification means that the film contains themes or content which may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 14 without the guidance of a parent or adult guardian. This rating is typically assigned to films that may have strong language, more intense violence, scenes of drug use, or brief scenes with nudity or sexual content. While these films are not as restrictive as an R-rated film, they are more mature than a PG-rated film.
