Rocky Cinemas (“Rocky Cinemas,” “we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit RockyCinemas.com (the “Site”) or contact us.

We are based in Alberta, Canada and we aim to comply with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable Canadian privacy requirements. Alberta PIPA is consent-based and permits organizations to collect personal information for reasonable purposes.

2) What Personal Information We Collect

We collect only what is reasonable for the purposes described in this Policy.

A. Information you provide

If you contact us (for example, through a contact form, email, or phone), we may collect:

  • your name,

  • email address,

  • phone number (if provided),

  • the content of your message and any information you choose to share.

B. Information collected automatically (Site usage)

When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • IP address and approximate location (derived from IP),

  • device and browser information,

  • pages viewed, referring/exit pages, and timestamps,

  • cookie and similar tracking data (see Section 7).

3) Important Note About Purchases on the Site

At this time, we do not sell movie tickets or gift cards through the Site and we do not process online ticket payments on the Site. The Site is used primarily to display showtimes and general information.

If we enable online ticketing or other online purchases in the future (for example, through a POS-integrated provider), we will update this Policy before or at the time those features go live.

4) How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to:

  • operate, maintain, and secure the Site,

  • respond to inquiries and provide customer support,

  • communicate with you about your request,

  • understand and improve Site performance and user experience (including analytics),

  • serve and measure advertising displayed on the Site (see Section 7),

  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

5) Consent

We generally collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent (express or implied depending on context and sensitivity), consistent with Alberta PIPA.

You may withdraw consent by contacting us (Section 1), subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you withdraw consent, we may be unable to provide certain functions of the Site (for example, if you block cookies required for embedded content or analytics/ads).

6) How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information in limited circumstances, including:

A. Service providers (including Wix)

We use service providers to host and operate the Site and related functions. This includes:

  • Wix.com Ltd. (website platform/hosting and associated infrastructure),

  • Google Analytics (website measurement and performance analytics),

  • Google AdSense (advertising services on the Site).

Our service providers may process personal information on our behalf and are expected to protect it. For advertising, Google and other third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and/or IP address information to collect information as a result of ad serving on the Site.

B. Legal and safety

We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of Rocky Cinemas, our customers, or others.

C. Business transactions

If Rocky Cinemas is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be disclosed as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

7) Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for functionality, analytics, and advertising.

A. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site (for example, which pages are viewed and how the Site performs). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect usage information. We use this information to improve the Site.

Data retention: Google Analytics retention settings can be configured, and certain Google-signals data retention has a maximum retention window described by Google.

B. Google AdSense (ads on the Site)

We use Google AdSense to display ads and to measure ad performance. AdSense and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to:

  • show ads,

  • limit how often you see an ad,

  • measure the effectiveness of ads,

  • support ad personalization (where applicable).

Google provides tools that allow users to control ad personalization, including Google’s ad settings and opt-out options for certain third-party vendors.

C. Your choices (cookie controls and opt-outs)

You can control cookies and certain tracking by:

  • using any cookie controls provided on the Site (if enabled),

  • adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies,

  • using Google and industry opt-out tools for personalized advertising.

Note: If you block cookies, some Site features may not function properly.

D. Online behavioural advertising (OBA)

Canadian privacy regulators have published guidance indicating that organizations should seek meaningful consent for tracking and targeted advertising practices, and note particular sensitivity around tracking children.

8) International Processing

Because we use Wix and Google services, personal information may be processed or stored outside Canada, including in the United States or other jurisdictions where service providers maintain facilities. In those cases, personal information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed.

9) Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to respond to inquiries, maintain business records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

10) Safeguards

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11) Access and Correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, subject to limited exceptions permitted by law. To make a request, contact us using the information in Section 1.

12) Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site.

13) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date indicates when it was most recently revised. Your continued use of the Site after changes means the updated Policy applies.
